A Real Opinion to the Grim Chronicle of Kathua Rape Case

In Editorial, National News, National Politics, Regional News

She was just an eight-year-old child. Her beautiful image which shows her wide-eyed innocence, a glistering smile caught in a moment, is something everyone is scrolling through online. Social media platforms took over and shared her story vividly and at a huge scale, taking it to the blinded nation. Belonging to the nomadic community of Bakherwal, she went missing on January 10 from a campsite in Rasana village neighbouring Kathua where she was staying with her family.

A missing child case was filed by her father on 12th January soon after which her grim body was recovered on 17th January. A retired revenue officer, a special police officer, two police officials were counted for this incident who was widely reported by media. The Crime Branch of Jammu Kashmir took over the investigation and on 9th of April filed a charge sheet which was publically announced to the public.

A chaos involving police, court, media, emotions, national security, and general public erupted with a streak of those who remain untouched by all this. There are people, who were not just unmoved but moved every muscle in their god’s given body to sabotage the process of justice. They are not people of the common. It’s sad to even acknowledge the fact that they are the Ministers, they are the men who lead organization, they are the lawmakers and they are in fact the black masked evil in the human society.

A Hindu Ekta March took place. Why? Because a horrific crime took place in a supposedly holy place called temple? Because they want justice?

It may sound like something that’s not possible but the truth is that march was to protect the criminal. To prove that those who are arrested are innocent. Why? Because the victim was Muslim. Because they say the arrested are Hindus. This kind of absurd communication proves a denied point over and over. Racism, sexism and social anomalies still exist in India. Want more of the cruel truth? This rape was a calculated strategy to terrorize the people of Bakherwal community in Kathua so they would leave the area. Recognised as scheduled tribes in the region, the people of this community are nomadic tribes that migrate with their animals, camping in forests for several decades. But still, if you ask why she got raped, the answer according to the charge sheet is because she was Muslim.
Prime minister’s words now seem as hollow as silence and a democratic government just got exposed as a group of unethical and cruel individuals who provide cover to those who are in power, no matter how unjustified their actions are and the leader remaining silent, like always.
