In a very happening and chaotic Modi Cabinet reshuffle, the Narendra Modi government today reported that Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal will now be given the extra charge of the Finance Ministry till Arun Jaitley recoups from a kidney transplant surgery. Smriti Irani has been moved out of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and will care for the materials service. Games Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore will have Irani’s spot. A Rashtrapati Bhavan report said Rathore has been doled out the autonomous charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
This is the second time that Irani has been moved from a key service as she was before moved from the HRD Ministry to the generally low-profile Textile Ministry. She remain the Textile Minister.
