Indian cricketer, Shreyas Iyer who has been recently playing a lot of domestic cricket for Team India reveals that MS Dhoni had told him to avoid reading newspapers and stay away from social media. The 23-year old cricketer who was appointed the captain of Delhi Daredevils in the recently concluded IPL tournament said that it was Ex-Indian skipper who told him to stay focused on his cricket.

“After I joined the Indian cricket team, MS Dhoni advised me that I need to avoid reading the newspapers and should try to stay away from social media as much as possible,” Shreyas Iyer added.

“Social media has become a big part of our lives and I try to manage it well but it’s the criticism that motivates me and keeps me going.”

The captain of Delhi even recalled one of his incidents after the IPL auction,“Soon after the auction news was out, this girl whom I knew started messaging me. On confronting her as to why she is desperately trying to reach out, I got to know that she was doing so because she was happy for me. That’s when I understood that rather than getting to know me, she was behind the money.”

Shreyas Iyer has played 6 ODI and T20I matches for India with slamming 293 International runs and there is no doubt that a big player like MS Dhoni can help young Shreyas Iyer in the field of cricket. Earlier Iyer even was called for the ODIs against England but did not get a chance to play but he did play for India A against England Lions in England.

He last played for India against South Africa where he scored 48 runs and since then he has not played any International match for India. Shreyas Iyer is a real talent that can be a huge asset for the team he is playing.
