It is rightly said that age is just a number, Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath had just shown and proved that against Pakistan. Rangana Herath the left arm spinner showed courage and also demolished the batting line up of Pakistan. In both the innings, he performed and his bowling clicked in total he took 11 wickets in the match. The extraordinary spell from 39-year oldie made it easy for Sri Lanka to defend the lowest 4th innings score of 136 runs.
Pakistan players were 21 runs short despite playing remarkably well in the first innings. Azhar Ali and Haris Sohail debutant were quick if the scorers.
After the toppling performance, Rangana Herath arrives in the list of bowlers taking 400 wickets he took 84 matches to do. In those list bowlers like Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, and legendary bowler Muttiah Muralitharan are also present.
Rangana Herath has turned another match in Sri Lanka’s favor and in the process, he has also become the first left-arm spinner to take 400 test wickets. He also has the most number of wickets against Pakistan (100) the second is Kapil Dev (99).
Both the test playing nations are ranked low in Test ranking. Pakistan is on 6th and whereas the Lankans are placed on 7th. The next match is on 6th October and will be really interesting to see what changes Pakistan and Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed makes in the upcoming battle as they are playing on their home soil.
Rangana Herath is totally an asset for his team and moreover, brings lots faith and confidence with him. Sri Lanka needs to have some more players like him to step up and show the world that Sri Lanka has some cricket left in them.
If Rangana Herath guards his team like this more young cricket will try to play quality cricket.
