PM Modi Gears Up For Zojila Project In Leh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday introduced the Rs 6,809 crore Zojila Project tunnel venture in Jammu and Kashmir’s Leh kickstarting the work for India’s longest passage and Asia’a longest and vital bi-directional passage, which will give all-climate availability amongst Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, Kargil and Leh. The task will be done inside five years.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs led by PM Modi had in January this year, affirmed the development of the passage in the state, remembering that Srinagar, Kargil and Leh stay cut-off from whatever is left of the world because of substantial snowfall amid winters (December to April). The Zojila Project will decrease the time taken to cross the Zojila go from the present three and a half hours to only fifteen minutes, PMO tweeted on Friday. According to Google Maps, it takes around ten hours to cover the separation amongst Srinagar and Leh.

PM will go to the Closing Ceremony of the Birth Centenary Celebration of the nineteenth Kushok Bakula Rinpoche in Leh. He will disclose a plaque to check the beginning of work on the Zojila Tunnel. This will be India’s longest street passage and Asia’s longest bi-directional passage.

The development of this passage will give all-climate availability between Srinagar, Kargil and Leh. It will chop down the time taken to cross the Zojila go from the present three and a half hours, to only fifteen minutes.
